8 Simple Tips To Keep Your Lawn Mower Running
By Sarah June, Fri Dec 9th

1. If you have a non-electric mower which runs on petrol or gashave a look in the instruction manual to find out how to checkand change the oil. Check the oil level often, add more oil whennecessary and change it when it’s dirty.

2. Store the mower in a shed or in some kind of protectiveenvironment so that it isn’t sitting in the elements.

3. Check your mower to see if it contains instructions forsharpening your mower blade. Some mowers do encourage youto sharpen the blade and others do not. If the manual doesdirect you to sharpen the blade then do so frequently.

4. The best time to mow your is after any dew from thenight before has had time to evaporate. This means that the lateafternoon is usually better than the morning as the grass cutsbetter when it’s dry and the humidity has left the air. Also, wet grass can cause problems with the mower and generally justmakes a bigger mess!

5. Try mowing your in different directions each time youmow. This will help

keep your healthy and will reduce thelikelihood of any patterns forming over multiple sessions.

6. Make sure you keep the fuel and oil that you pour into yourmower as free of foreign objects as possible. No matter whatyour daughter insists, her bottle of moisturizer added to thegas tank will probably not make your mower run any better.

7. Take the time to clean the grass off the underside of themower from time to time. Make sure the mower is off before youattempt to clean the underside. Make sure if you are goinganywhere near the blade you disconnect the spark plug wire first.

8. Clean the air intake for the mower. Combustion (petrol orgas) engines need some type of air intake to run correctly andif the air intake on your mower is clogged with grass then themower won’t run at peak efficiency.
